Facial grammar
Sentences are signed clause by clause, and questions and negation are carried on the face and head — the non-manual markers ASL uses.
What it does
Type or speak English and a 3D signer performs it in American Sign Language. Real-time English-to-ASL for conversation: a rules-based grammar engine and a 3D avatar sign each sentence a few seconds after it's said. Fast speech, meetings and long videos fall further behind. Not a replacement for a live interpreter. Words outside our sign vocabulary are fingerspelled and marked. The status shows how far behind the signer is, and anything the session could not hear is marked in the transcript. SimuSign is in Early Access.
Capabilities

Sentences are signed clause by clause, and questions and negation are carried on the face and head — the non-manual markers ASL uses.
Words outside our sign vocabulary are fingerspelled with letter-to-letter transitions, and the camera eases in so you can read them. Spelled words are marked as spelled. Live signing can fall behind speech; the status shows how far behind, and anything the session could not hear is marked in the transcript.
Real-time English-to-ASL for conversation: a rules-based grammar engine and a 3D avatar sign each sentence a few seconds after it's said. Fast speech, meetings and long videos fall further behind. Not a replacement for a live interpreter. Works with your microphone, or with a browser tab's audio in Chrome and Edge.
Signs flow into one another, the way a signer moves from one sign to the next, instead of stopping between words.
Every sign is authored by our team, and we keep refining them during Early Access.
Pop the avatar out into a small always-on-top window and keep it beside a meeting, a video or anything else on your screen — in Chrome and Edge, or as a video-only picture-in-picture in Safari. Fast speech, meetings and long videos can fall a minute or more behind. Not a replacement for a live interpreter.

ASL students, families, interpreter traineesReceptive fingerspelling is famously the first skill learned and the last mastered. Watch any word — including names — spelled with continuous letter-to-letter transitions and an automatic close-up camera. Adjustable-speed drills are live in our Fingerspelling Trainer — slow it down until you can read it, then speed it back up.
ASL students, interpreter training programsType a quick message and let the avatar sign it — for everyday moments between hearing and Deaf family members and friends. Not for medical, legal, emergency or other high-stakes communication.
Families with Deaf members, friends, colleaguesStream your microphone or a meeting or video tab's audio and pin the pop-out signer beside it. Fast speech, meetings and long videos can fall a minute or more behind. Not a replacement for a live interpreter. In Early Access — words outside our sign vocabulary are fingerspelled, visibly.
